of the ISOA Meeting –
Meeting was called to order by President Phil Dawkins at 10:03 A.M.
Minutes of the Meeting on August 11, 2007 were read by Secretary Barbara Richardson, and those present received copies.
Ron McGraw of the I.H.S.A. praised the Officials on the wonderful job done on Friday for the Girls State Swimming & Diving preliminaries. He mentioned that we always do a great job for the Girls.
Barbara Richardson presented Ron with a number of unused shirt patches which the members had collected and brought to the meeting. He was a bit surprised and then very pleased. Thanked everyone for the good thoughts and wished the Team of Officials a good State Final Meet.
Treasurer's report was presented by Treasurer Al Wienke: The period covering 8-11-07 to 11-15-07. Treasury balance is $471.80 after paying bills of $854.68. We have 106 current members. Al told everyone that supplies may be ordered via our ISOA website order form. Patt Chase motioned to accept the report and Irma Gripp 2nd. Motion passed.
Mike Hutton spoke about the Observers Program. Details are on the Member's Services Section of the ISOA Website. Program is to begin in December with the Boys Meets. Anyone may request Observance, but at this time they hope to begin with the newer Officials.
Mike stressed that Observation is optional. All reports are confidential between the Observers and the Official. Observers are: Mike Hutton, Mark A. Anderson, Bill Bavirsha, Kevin Moss and Steve McGriff. Pay will be $25.00 for each Observation.
Mike & Phil said the ISOA has applied to the IHSA for a Grant to cover those costs involved. Observers were chosen to cover as much of the State as possible.
Nominating Committee report: Offices of Vice President & Secretary will be voted upon at the Boys State Meet in February 2008. The Committee of Bill Bavirsha, Pat Cavanaugh and Mike Hutton are accepting Nominations up until the Election time.
Mark A. Anderson explained that the Committee which includes Mike Hutton and Barbara Richardson will be accepting nominations for the ISOA Awards for Official of the Year, Most Improved and Rookie of the Year until FEBRUARY 1, 2008.
Nominations for the Romstead/Drum Award were due at the Meeting and the Board met regarding the Candidate chosen. The Award which will be presented at the Girls State Banquet. This is Award is sponsored by the Illinois Swimming Association.
The Banquet which honors the State's Top Swimmers & Divers will be at the Diplomat West, 681 W. North Avenue in Elmhurst on Wednesday December 12, 2007. More information is available on the ISA Website. Cost per person $25.

A committee was chosen to count the ballots for the Top 15 Girls Swim Officials and the results can be found on the ISOA Website.
Phil Dawkins has been appointed to the IHSA Officials Advisory Committee. They will next meet in April 2008. You may forward any questions or requests to him to present to the Committee.
A Discussion regarding Clinics: After June 1, 2008 all information regarding
clinics and Rules Meetings will be presented on the IHSA Website. IHSA is
headed for total electronics. An Official who doesn't have on line access
may present their IHSA Officials Membership Card at a local High School and
ask permission to use their computer. A phone call in advance would be a good
idea. Computers are also
available at local libraries.
On Sunday, JANARY 13, 2008 Joe Plack will be presenting his Annual Swim & Dive Clinic. This is an excellent Clinic and a great deal of preparation by Joe is evident.
In a cost savings effort the IHSA will only send Rules Books every other year. PREPARE TO SAVE YOUR CURRENT RULES BOOK FOR 2008-09! Additional Rules books will be available from the National Federation every year.
A discussion regarding the criteria for Officials Ratings concluded that this information is available in your IHSA Handbook. Power ratings for Winter sports will appear on your Website around December 7.
The Annual IHSA Officials Convention will be held in Peoria July 18-19, 2008. Many clinics and Mini sessions for every thing pertaining to officiating.
Ollie Dunson thanked everyone for their prayers, cards and good wishes. Ollie
motioned for adjournment, 2nd by A.C. Beuller. Meeting was
adjourned at 11:15 A.M.
