of the ISOA Meeting –
Meeting was called to order at 1:10PM by President Phil Dawkins.
Motion to accept the minutes as mailed to the members by Tom Kite and seconded by Bill Bavirsha. Motion passed.
Treasurer's Report by Al Wienke: Treasury Balance: $1,741.92. Report is from February 23 through August 10, 2007. Very little activity for this time. Income: $1,703. and outflow: $524.34.
Membership renewal is down by a considerable amount. We are now at a robust 91 Members. Al is hopeful that we will soon have additional renewal members. The directory will go to the printer on August 27, 2007. The Directory will be sent to all current members.
Motion to accept Treasurer's Report by Patt Chase, seconded by Bart Smith. Motion passed.
Phil spoke about the new IHSA Official's Center Website and it's changes. It is recommended that Members check it out, especially their personal information and update Sectional & State availability.
Nominating Committee for Election of Vice President & Secretary will consist of Mike Hutton, Bill Bavirsha & Pat Cavanaugh.
Committee for the Rookie of the Year, Official of the Year & Most Improved Awards: Mark A. Anderson, Mike Hutton & Barbara Richardson. Please send your nominations and short bios to the Committees by phone, email, snail mail or in person.
Al Wienke mentioned that those officials who do not renew their membership or pay late will not be listed on the "Top Fifteen" ballot. Deadline will be ten days before the next ISOA Meetings in August & November.
Mike Hutton explained that the ratings on your IHSA website are from the previous season. He also noted that when Certified Officials rate the other officials there is no longer an area to check for improvement.
Mike Hutton's report on the Observer's Program: The Observer's Plan is on
our Website at the end of the Constitution. ISOA is right on target
and the plan will proceed this fall beginning with newer officials and those
who request observation. The goal is to observe 7 officials each season.
Kevin Moss reported on the IHSA Official's Conference in July: The focus
was on retaining Officials, recruting new Officials, the insurance
program. More of his report can be found on the ISOA Webpage.
The IHSA Grant Application is due Sept 1, 2007.
The listing of Clinics & Rules Meetings is on the IHSA Website and will nolonger be mailed to Officials.
Officials are encouraged to send an email to Kevin Moss: mosski@insightbb.com as soon as they have accepted their Sectional Assignment. This will enable the Referees to contact their crews. Look for your assignment on your personal website.
Phil thanked Kevin for doing an excellent job keeping us all informed.
The Sectional Referee & Diving Referee Meeting will be held at Maine West on November 5, 2007 @ 7 P.M. This is an excellent time to refresh and make certain that all officials will be on the same page at Sectionals.
Barbara Richardson spoke about Madelynn Martino's dedication to Girls &
Boys Sports. We lost Madelynn earlier this year. Rememberances
may be sent individually to the Ola Bundy Scholarship Fund via the IHSA. Both
Madelynn & Ola were vital in the beginning of Girls Athletics in
Illinois and their continued dedication is appreciated, even by those who
never met them.
Pat Chase motioned for adjournment at 1:50PM, seconded by Bart Smith. Motion passed.
