The meeting was called to order by President Phil Dawkins at 9:35AM. There were 27 members present.
Phil introduced Ron McGraw who thanked everyone for a 'fantastic' job during Friday's preliminaries. Even though the number of Volunteer Officials available was down this year, the work was done quite efficiently by those present.
Ron mentioned that his office is available to any official who has a situation develop and needs assistance. Barbara Richardson presented him with additional extra patches from Officials to be recycled.
Coach Dave Robertson, retired from New Trier, spoke about the early days of the ISOA and recalled how he and a number of individuals decided that swim officiating needed to be more organized with officials working the same way everywhere. He complimented the organization in the way they are carrying out the 'dream' of those from long ago. In establishing protocol thruout the State we have become a model for other States.
The minutes from the November 2008 meeting were available for members to read and have been posted on the ISOA website. There were no corrections or additions.
Al Wienke presented the Treasurer's report. At present there are 106 members with 2 Honorary Members. The cost of "DQ" cards had to be raised to $1.00 due to printing charges. There were no questions and the President accepted the report.
Mike Hutton reported that one official had been observed this season. Such reports are kept confidential between the Observer and the official who was observed. Any member of ISOA may request an observation. Grant money from the IHSA is used for this purpose.
Nancy Meyer spoke regarding a diving clinic she attended at Neuqua Valley HS in December. There will also be another workshop at Northwestern on March 7-8. Information will be posted on the ISOA website. Briian Vandenberg offered that the best group for High School Officials to observe would be the 13-14 age Division, as they are the group entering High School soon.
Election of Officers: Phil Dawkins and Mike Hutton were re-elected to the positions of President and Member-At-Large, respectively.
Phil spoke briefly about the Annual IHSA Convention to be held July 17-18, 2009 in Peoria, IL. Several members spoke about their positive memories in previous years.
Mike Hutton spoke about the re-design of the Web Site and recommended that members check the Web Site with questions or information.
Bob Bremner or Rockford and Isaac Marshall of Chicago recently passed away. Both of them were active sponsors of Illinois Swimming. They will be missed.
The ISA Banquet will be held March 11, 2009 at the Diplomat West in Elmhurst. Cost is $25 per meal and all officials are invited to attend.

Al Wienke called for a show of hands of the Officials present who would like the ISOA to block rooms at a motel for the State Meets. 12 Officials responded.
Dennis Yard made a motion to adjourn the meeting, 2nd by Bart Smith. Motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 10:30AM.
